Good evening all. Sorry for the long message. I hope this note finds everyone well?

Restarting of Volleyball

The committee met a few weeks ago to discuss the resumption of Volleyball at Winchester. In light of the announcement recently by the UK government and the clarification by Volleyball England, we are going to restart Volleyball shortly.

Clearly there are a plethora of restrictions that we are having to take into consideration and also follow strict health and hygiene rules. The health of our members is and always will be the first consideration we take, henceforth, however, we believe on balance, at this time, we can resume.

The Committee will review the sessions on a week on week basis and we will halt Volleyball on Wednesday nights if the risks to your health increases from the current levels at the current time

Taking into consideration all of this, the committee have decided on the following

• We will resume outdoor volleyball on Wednesday 22nd July (note: there are as yet no plans for indoor volleyball), the sessions will run every Wednesday until September
• The sessions will start at 19:00 and run for a maximum of 1.5 hours
• We will erect 3 nets on each night
• We will run 3 games, 1 game on each court of 2 vs 2, beach style volleyball, we will limit the interchanging of teams and at all times, between set’s etc disinfect the Volleyball
• We are also considering a small amount of fitness conditioning and skills

Wednesdays, initially will be open to members only on a first come first serve basis.

Whatsapp will be used for the time being to confirm your attendance, you can only book for the following week from the Thursday prior, so if the session is on Wednesday 22nd of July for instance you can book via a simple WhatsApp from Thursday 16th of July. A simple Whatsapp to myself will be sufficient to book your place.

Social distancing (two metres) is to be maintained at all times when the ball is not in play and when participants are off court. This means no handshakes or congratulatory touches.

Could we please ask all people to bring their own hand sanitizers

We have ordered 6 new outdoor balls

Disclaimer coming – We have reviewed all of the potential risks and believe this to be the lowest risk option at this time for us to restart Volleyball, until we receive further information from Volleyball England. Please note we cannot fully guarantee your 100% safety at all times

If you feel in any way unwell, can the committee ask that you do not attend.

Morning all.

Restarting of Volleyball

The committee met on Tuesday evening to discuss the resumption of Volleyball at Winchester.

Clearly there are a plethora of restrictions that we are having to take into consideration and also guidance from Government and Volleyball England, who we are affiliated with.

We had come to the conclusion that we would try and restart on Wednesday 8th of July, however and after taking further counsel from Volleyball England and in particular the insurance that covers us, we feel it unwise to start at the moment and wait until restrictions are eased. Our insurance will only cover us if we strictly adopt a maximum of 6 people (and that does not mean we can have 6 one side of the field and 6 on the other!) and that a ball can only be shared between two people.

I am sure you are all desperate to resume normal life and get back to playing volleyball, but the risks at this time far outweigh the gains.

Trust me, as soon as we have eased restrictions we will start immediately but only after carefully considering the risks to all of our members and non-members.

If you have any thoughts feel free to drop me a line, but for now, stay safe and see you all soon

Kind Regards

Jon

Hi all.

I hope everyone is well..

Due to the world events the committee have decided to cancel training nights, both Monday and Wednesday night until further notice.

The health of all of those that normally attend is of paramount importance and until further guidelines are issued, it is only right we follow the UK governments advice.

I hope you all understand and we will of course update you when we know more.

Please, all take care.

Kindest Regards

Jon
